Nonpartisan races on the ballot

WV Supreme Court of Appeals, Division 1 — unexpired 6-year term: Gerald Titus.

WV Supreme Court of Appeals, Division 2 — unexpired 2-year term: Tom Ewing

Intermediate Court of Appeals, Division 1: Dan Greear.

Magistrate, Division 2 — unexpired term: Doug Smith.

 

Berkeley County Board of Education — vote for up to 3: Robert McCaulley, Gary Lescalleet, Brent Sherrard

Conservation District Supervisor: Carla Jean Kitchen.

 

 

Republican ballot — main candidate races

U.S. Senate: Alexander Gaaserud.

U.S. House, 2nd Congressional District: Riley Moore. (unopposed)

 

State Senate: District 15: Darren J. Thorne

House of Delegates: 92: Michael Hite;

Note, I was torn between Tom Willis and Alex Gaaserud.   My husband is voting for Tom.    Alex can debate; Tom was caught a bit flat footed when challenged on Capito’s vote for the red flag gun laws.   The interviewer (clearly a Capito fan) challenged Tom that Capito only voted for red flag gun laws because “she knew that the WV state legislature would never pass red flag gun laws and she wanted the funding for mental health services in WV”.   Tom should have immediately hit back with this sets a terrible precedent nationally against the second amendment and buy-offs should never comprise morality.    Tom didn’t have an answer.   Tom is far better funded than Alex.    Alex, in my opinion, more articulate – ran a Republican club in college and active in debates with liberals.   Capito also voted for the Afghan resettlement – two WV national guard members were killed by one of those migrants National Guard shooting in DC: Rahmanullah Lakanwal charged in ambush.   Senator Thune has been blocking President Trumps recess appointments (all of them) and refuses to pass the SAVE act – and you rarely see a picture of Thune without Shelley Moore Capito at his side gazing up at him.   GET OUT AND VOTE TODAY!
